Nuke-Con 2013

The Omaha Area’s Premier Gaming Convention

About Nuke-Con

The Organization

Nuke-Con is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the positive educational, social, and entertainment aspects in all types of gaming hobbies.

Games offer reading, listening, and kinesthetic learning opportunities featuring counting, strategy, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Gathering together offers the opportunity to further build the community of learning.

Community and charity are important to Nuke-Con. Each annual convention holds events to benefit one or more 501©3 charities. Other ways that Nuke-Con’s community contributes is by events (such as food drives during our game days) to benefit the Omaha Food Bank or Open Door Mission.

Annual Convention

Once a year we host a family-oriented three-day convention that attracts people from all over the country. The events put on at our annual convention include pen and paper role-playing games, collectible card games, LARPS, miniature wargames and board games. Additionally, PC gaming and console gaming have been featured at past Nuke-Cons. You can even find poker and cribbage being played.

In additional to gaming, our annual convention is home to panels and special events. Looking to learn how to get started on writing a book or hear an author read from one of his own? Do you fancy playing Croquet with a SteamPunk twist? We have that too.

Game Days

We also run several one-day game days during the year that we’ve named Aftershocks. These are usually hosted by local stores, high schools or public facilities. We have run them at other local conventions, as well.

Staff

While we have many volunteers, there are a few individuals that run the various departments that make Nuke-Con go. If you have questions regarding the programming for the annual convention or regarding our organization, these are the people that can answer your question or make sure it gets answered.

If you don’t see department that fits what you’re looking for, contact the Con Coordinator.

Board of Directors

The Nuke-Con Board of Directors is charged with general oversight and financial responsibility for the organization. It approves and supports the core Convention staff each year.

The Board of Directors consists of three to seven members, two of which are elected by the general Nuke-Con community. The elected members serve staggered two-year terms.
