The Registration Desk is the first stop for people who attend Nuke-Con’s annual convention. It’s where they get their badges and ask their questions about the convention. The Registration Coordinator is the link between the payments coming in and the badges going out.
For about nine months out of the year, the Registration Coordinator has minimal responsibilities. They can manage the small trickle of people who register during that period by checking email about once a week and making sure reminder social media posts go out as deadlines approach.
But as summer starts to end, things start picking up. The Coordinator must review payments daily as they come in, go back to the buyers for clarifications, and respond to more email questions. About a month before the convention, the work becomes more hectic. In addition to managing the daily purchases, they’ll be helping to print registration information and schedules for attendees, laminate preregistration badges, and other necessary last-minute tasks.
During the convention weekend, Registration works with the Convention Coordinator to fix any problems that come up and help at the Registration Desk. It is a busy station, but it’s not a one-person show at that point. We have some fantastic, well-trained volunteers!
After the convention the Registration Coordinator may be asked to reconcile questions about particular badge situations. Once the finances are wrapped up at the end of the year, their activity drops back to the leisurely once-a-week routine as they cycle begins again.
If you a have any interest come up to Registration at the Convention or email at reg@nuke-con.com
